this is a major reason he was fired for cause, employers are strictly liable for sexual harassment from a direct supervisor

The OW was his direct report, which means the university would be at risk of liability if they tried to fire her, as she could claim it was coercive relationship... and the fact that he threatened her with murder-suicide when she attempted to break up with her certainly bolsters that claim. Also, Moore had a morality clause in his contract, which meant the university could fire him for any affair or activity that caused embarrassment/bad publicity for the school. The OW likely didn't have such a contract for her employment because she wasn't in a public-facing role.

My heart goes out to his wife, Kelli, and his daughters. Although we don't know much about their marriage, the guy is obviously unhinged, and I think it's safe to assume-- knowing what we do about how cheaters behave while in the throes of an affair, especially malignant narcissists like this guy-- that she was suffering considerably behind closed doors, long before this sordid mess became pubic knowledge.

This story is a perfect example of why I almost always tell a BS whose WS is screwing an employee to get out before the affair is exposed in order to ensure they get the best settlement possible and are outside the blast radius when the affair inevitably blows up and costs the WS his or her career and reputation.
